Should we care about

the orphan, widow, and foreigner?

God does!

Most of us can recite the two greatest commandments to love the Lord our God and love our neighbor as ourselves.  But, sometimes we miss how Jesus expands on the idea of loving our neighbor by telling the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).

In this story, love was not merely a nice feeling for someone, but a commitment to act.  By stepping out beyond what is familiar to us and moving with compassion on behalf of the need of another, we are taking on the heart of God to love as he loves.  What a privilege we have to care for the need of an orphan, widow, or foreigner!

Part of the RockAware journey is moving from awareness to committed love.

Aware

The command to love our neighbor begins with having eyes to truly see them, not to just pass over and pass by.

Act

God’s love and compassion leads us into action as we identify with another person’s need or suffering.

Adopt

Moving beyond one-time acts, God may call us to adopt, where we make a commitment to love.  Families may adopt individuals, other families, or even people groups, whether informally in relationship or formally through an organization or entity.

Examples include: loving parents adopting a child, a family embracing a widow as a grandmother figure, a family coming alongside a refugee family to support and love, or a community of families adopting an unreached people-group to regularly pray for and sow into financially.

What RockAware is Doing About It

We believe God wants to use Christian families today to show His love by embracing the physical and spiritual needs of orphans, widows, and foreigners.

We believe God is looking for families who are willing to make room in heart, home, and community for those he loves and desires as His own.

We aim to be a resource center to bring awareness and to mobilize families for action and adoption.   Also, a portion of our profits and products will aid organizations and individuals who are addressing these needs.

With RockAware, you are shopping with a purpose.
